AQ Date Night 2012

The Alumni Office at Aquinas recently put on an event for alumni couples – AQ Date Night.  The theme for the evening was “The Greatest Love Stories Ever Told: An epicurean excursion with history & Hollywood’s most romantic couples.”  The event took place at Holmdene on campus and unfortunately the weather for the evening was less than pleasant that evening with snow and wind.  But, this is February in Michigan, so we can’t really be too surprised!  This didn’t stop many couples from braving the weather to come out and enjoy the evening.

Welcome Oliver Thomas!

We recently had a new addition to our family – a little boy!  Oliver Thomas joined us on November 6 at 2:00am weighing in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21 inches long.  We had a c-section scheduled, but this little one decided to come early and surprise us.  Oliver is a sweet little baby and pretty much loves to just sleep and eat.  Big sister Kaylynn is adjusting to having her little brother around and loves to hold him and stroke his cheek and head.  She has been a very good helper in bringing us blankets for him, giving him his pacifier and helping change diapers (meaning: standing right by my side and talking to him trying to quiet him down as he is crying – so cute!).  I am sure there will be many more photos to come of this little guy!

Birthday Tea

For my niece’s seventh birthday this year, my sister-in-law planned an American Girl birthday tea party for her and a few friends.  She found her party inspiration from this blog post and everything was decorated in pink, black and white.  The girls (including my little girl!) had a fun time learning about tea party etiquette, listening to stories, doing crafts and sharing special things about their dolls they brought.  There were lots of yummy finger foods and treats and everyone had a great time.

Nieces, Nephews & Daughter, Oh My!

Summertime Play Dates are the Best!

Now that summer is here, it is the perfect time for play dates!  Today we met up with some of our friends at the park to play and do a little “photo play date.”  We had lots of fun playing on all the different playground equipment with our friends and the moms enjoyed some time catching up with one another :)

Spring is Here!

We finally had a nice day here where it was not freezing cold or raining!  I didn’t get the chance to take too many pictures of my little one around Easter, so we went out this morning to take a few pictures of Kaylynn in her pretty Easter dress.  We went to a little park by the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans – it was a nice, quiet and peaceful area where we could walk around and enjoy the pretty scenery.  Kaylynn enjoyed picking up sticks, walking around and throwing everything she could find in the little stream.  These are a few of my favorite pictures from our outing.

Gerbera Daisies

As much as I enjoy winter, it is getting to that time of year where it is mostly gray outside with a few days here and there that give us some sun.  On my way home from work today I stopped and picked up some flowers for our kitchen table in efforts of bringing some color into the house.  These were some pictures I took of the flowers.
